  • Founder & Estates Lawyer

    Britta is on a mission to modernize estate-related legal services. Prior to starting Modern Wills, Britta worked at a boutique tax and corporate firm in downtown Calgary. Britta is admitted to the Alberta Bar, and an active member of the Canadian Bar Association (Small and Solo Lawyers South).

    Britta's academic credentials include a Juris Doctor from the University of Calgary's Faculty of Law, where she made the Dean's List, and a Bachelor of Commerce with Distinction from the University of Calgary's Haskayne School of Business. Her dedication to serving the community was recognized with the Pro Bono Law Alberta, Pro Bono Champions of the Future Award in 2017.

    In addition to her legal pursuits, Britta loves spending time with her family, meeting dogs, travelling to new cities and trying new restaurants with her husband, and working towards publishing a wine magazine with her friends. She holds the Wine & Spirits Education Trust, Level 2 Award in Wines with Distinction.

    At Modern Wills, she combines her legal expertise, business acumen, and personal touch to provide clients with exceptional estate services.

  • Legal Assistant

    With her blend of practical experience and legal knowledge, Lauren is dedicated to Modern Wills' mission to transform estate services.

    After a successful career as an early childhood educator and administrative assistant, Lauren discovered her passion for law and made a career shift in 2022. In 2024, she graduated from Bow Valley College with a Legal Assistant Diploma, earning prestigious awards such as the Bennett Jones Legal Assistant Scholarship and the Premier's Scholarship Award.

    Lauren's interests lie in wills and estates, family law, youth advocacy and human rights. At Modern Wills, she enjoys applying her education and enthusiasm to help clients navigate their estate needs with compassion.

    Outside of work, Lauren cherishes moments with her teenage son and enjoys painting watercolour prints, exploring the great outdoors through hiking, and indulging in interior decorating.

  • Part-Time Commissioner of Oaths

    Katelyne started with MW as a student, and then worked as legal assistant. She continues to be a valued member of the team, even though she is no longer here day-to-day, in her role as our Part-Time Commissioner of Oaths.

    Outside of work Katelyne enjoys spending time outdoors running and walking her pups.
